PackRat – Facebook App Obsession

Obsession has a new name, PackRat. Someone on my contact list introduced me to PackRat and now I’m addicted.

PackRat is a Facebook application that’s part card collection game, and part thievery. The rules are simple.

1. Form a set and put them away in your vault.

2. Buy cards to complete sets.

3. Steal cards from your friends to complete sets.

There are very few wrinkles beyond that.

You gain levels by putting sets in your vault and by stealing cards from your contacts. Each card belongs to a master set, and there are numerous sets. Sets are made up of common and uncommon cards, some of which must be combined to form other cards in the collection.

To keep you from losing friends, PackRat provides some built in rat friends for you to steal from. That, combined with being able to purchase cards, allows friends to play without becoming fierce competitors.

All of the cards are family safe as far as I’ve seen, and not a few are great for a laugh. The Primary Colors 2008 set contains various modern day political figures, with some surprisingly good likenesses.

The game is simple enough to learn that teens and adults can play along side.

Overall, this game is sure to be a hit for those that love card collection games of the not so virtual variety. Adding the family safe factor makes it one I recommend giving a try.

See you in the game. (clicking the image will take you to the Facebook application page)

You should see the quotes on the facebook page. They seem to indicate some real excitement about the game.

I’m completely addicted. If it weren’t for a friend of mine helping me out, I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I have!

Pack rat now the worst game on Facebook. The developers can’t keep up with all the coding changing Facebook has and there are so many error while playing. Plus now they have been trying to rewrite the game and so thy are just putting out the same artwork in a different color border and calling it a second edition. No fun there, plus the developers won’t even respond to the players. Very poor customer service for a game you have to pay for.

I have been playing PackRat for the past three years. The developer continues to change the game play. Now players can choose to have “pay” for subscription for US10 per month where you can access new cards in the XL markets (limited to subscribers only) that the regular markets (free for all) does not offer. In addition, players can buy Facebook tickets to redeem for retired cards in the retired markets.

If you have patience and can wait for cards to release in the regular markets, you will enjoy the game. If you are the kind that wants to complete a task “pronto”, is either you pay to play or ask your subscribed friends to assist you.

This game can be addicted as well as it might increase your stress level as you are competing with others to complete a certain set/collection. Word of advice, “Always remember, this is just a virtual game. No need to cross your friends or neglect your daily life for it”.

Peace out and I am waiting to steal from your pack! đŸ™‚
